Manhattan

The heart of New York City: one of the City's five boroughs, and probably the most famous of them. For the island's fascinating secular history, interested readers should have a look at its Wikipedia entry.

Many major events in the Young Wizards novels take place in and around Manhattan Island. About two thirds of SYWTBAW is set either in the Manhattan of our world or the Dark Manhattan of the Lone Power. Other books (such as HW) start off in Manhattan and quickly veer off into other territories, either on planet or off it. Additionally, wizards all through the series frequently pass through Manhattan on errantry while using the major worldgating facilities located in Grand Central Terminal and Penn Station.

The Manhattans of other times and spaces are referenced in the series as well, especially in the Feline Wizardry sequence that begins with TBONWM: a wizardly intervention of the New York worldgating team takes them to the ancient Downside, an otherworldly Manhattan where the great cats of primeval days still roam: and in TWD, where Nita ventures into alternate Manhattans while doing her initial kernel research.
