The primary (or main body) of the Solar System which contains Earth: a main-sequence yellow dwarf star of type G0V, with an absolute magnitude of +4.83. Sometimes called "Sol", the Latin name for both the Sun and one of the ancient gods of the sun in the Latian cultures.

The Sun has had a hard time of it in the Young Wizards series. It has unfortunately been a recipient of the direct attentions of the Starsnuffer, and was put out for a short time in SYWTBAW. It has apparently suffered some aftereffects from this rough treatment, and Roshaun, as something of an expert in the business of stellar mechanics, conjectured that the later spate of mild variability and tendency to flare which the Sun displays in WH and WAW probably were aftereffects of having been snuffed.
