ProvocodictoryThe phrase by which a wizard acknowledges the presence of the Lone Power and directly challenges It. There are many forms of the Provocodictory, but several are extremely popular, and their use has become widespread across many worlds. One of these, frequently used on Earth -- "Fairest and Fallen, greeting and defiance!" -- is said to be derived from the format of the original challenge that the Michael Power issued to the Lone One in the Speech at the beginning of the Cosmomachy. (SYWTBAW et seq.) (See also Avedictory, Monitory declaration.)
